Ooredoo Fintech Announces Zero-Fee International Money Transfers via mFaisaa to Support Communities Affected by Cyclone

Ooredoo Fintech Maldives today announced a special humanitarian initiative offering zero-fee international money transfers via mFaisaa to selected countries impacted by the recent cyclone. From 1st December 2025 to 31st December 2025, customers can send money instantly and securely to Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand without any transfer fees.

This limited-time offer aims to enable faster, more affordable financial support for families and communities affected by the devastating weather conditions across the region.

With m-Faisaa’s international money remittance (IMR) service, powered by MoneyGram, customers can send funds abroad within minutes right from their mobile phones.

The service features:

  • Zero transfer fees for selected cyclone-affected countries
  • High transfer limits of up to USD 10,000 per day
  • Fully digital process: no paperwork, no queues
  • Real-time transaction tracking through the mFaisaa app

Once customers cash-in to their mFaisaa wallet, they can enter the recipient’s details and complete the transfer digitally, with instant confirmation and complete transparency on delivery status.

Speaking about the initiative, Ooredoo Maldives CEO & Managing Director, Khalid Al-Hamadi, said:

“The Maldives has close cultural and community ties with our neighbours in the region, and many of our residents have family and loved ones living in countries now affected by the cyclone. By removing transfer fees and enabling instant, secure digital remittances, we hope to make it easier for people to support those who need help the most during this difficult time. Our goal is to ensure that technology serves a meaningful purpose, connecting people, strengthening communities, and enabling urgent support when it matters most.”

This humanitarian initiative reinforces Ooredoo’s ongoing commitment to leveraging digital financial services for social impact, inclusivity, and connectivity across the region.
